Beyond the Yellow Ribbon

Last night was spent with some more kids, but for an excellent cause. Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a group of military families that meet once a month to bond and support each other. It's for previous and currently deployed families in the area. For the month of March, there was a mini carnival held at the college. Project GO was a sponsor. We set-up a few activities for the kids to do through-out the evening: painting rocks to look like bugs, make play dough, and pinwheel flowers. I helped out with the rocks, and it was so much fun! The kids had a blast, too. There was everything being painted from a grasshopper to beetles to 4-eyed bug-creations. I even got into it and painted a green and pink ladybug. My friend started painting a rock blue and yellow; it ended up looking like a smurf! It was pretty sweet. So we helped the kids have a night of fun, and the parents were so thankful for our help. It was a great night for everyone :)

Today wasn't very exciting. I spent most of the day running errands. Woo hoo! I do have any update on the summer internship though. The nature center didn't want me since I don't have enough experience with little kids. However, I came across 2 other internships. One is at Oxbow Park and the other is at Mayo. I haven't heard from Oxbow yet, but I have heard from Mayo. My ap made it through the first round. Now I just need an interview, and I'm one step closer to a summer internship! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
