Today is Bacon's birthday; this would be the family dog for those of you that don't know. He is a cocker spaniel, which generally live to be 12-13 years old. He was also the runt of his litter, resulting in him living to about 10 years old. Bacon decided to prove everyone wrong by celebrating his 15th birthday today, which comes out to be about 76 in dog years according to the experts. The average person would say that he turned 105 in dog years. Either way, he is an old dog living a long, happy life.
I was a nerd and had a doggie birthday party for him. Obviously Taffy was here to celebrate, along with Dax (my sister's dog). We played a party game too called bob for biscuits. Yes, it's similar to bobbing for apples during Halloween, except for you put milkbones in the water. I had each dog take turns bobbing for biscuits. Bacon ended up winning by eating 3 biscuits. Taffy got 2, and Dax was afraid of the water. After about 5 mins or so, Dax got the hang of it and was putting his entire snout and face in the water to get biscuits that sunk on the bottom. It was hilarious watching the dogs after the game was technically done. If anyone out there with a dog needs a good laugh, throw some biscuits in a big pot of water or a kiddie pool. It's very entertaining watching the dog get them out.
We then had Bacon open his presents, with help from Taffy. Taffy LOVES opening presents, and Bacon likes to eat the treats once they are opened. It's a team effort. We were going to have a birthday cake, but the baker at the pet store was on vacation all week so no birthday cake. It was still a great party. Happy Birthday Bacon!
