Poplar Hill - Day 2

Happy Valentine's Day all you bloggers! My V-day wasn't spent like a normal one. While most of you were out with sweethearts on dates or cuddling on the couch at home, I was playing with some goats at the Poplar Hill Goat Farm for school. Today, my class was working on trimming hooves and drawing blood. The hooves haven't been trimmed since the goats were born. They are only a few months old, but they are so thick and long. In addition, they are covered in goat poop. It was a challenge trimming, but it was kinda fun. A lot more fun than trimming your own toe nails, that's for sure! After the dirty work, we performed a TPR on our goat. For those of you not familiar with medical terms, we checked the temperature, pulse, and respirations. I was on temperature duty, so I got to stick a thermometer up the goats butt. Like most animals, he wasn't too fond of it and didn't want to stand still. My restrainer held on while he ran in circles with a thermometer up his butt. It was quite entertaining. Just before it slid out, the thermometer beeped. It was in there just long enough to get me an accurate temperature, and I didn't even have to hold it in. I may not have had a yummy dinner this Valentine's day, but I didnt have a great afternoon show! Hope the rest of you had a just as enjoyable holiday!
